CUE TV Reviews – Is CUE Legit?

I’ve been using CUE for a while now – going on a year. And, just to be totally upfront, I am an affiliate for CUE Broadcast – as is everyone who has joined. This is because if you join and sign up 3 people under you (1 level deep), then you get the service for free. I took the other option of becoming a full-fledged affiliate, aiming to get more than 3 people signed up. Still this review is fair and honest since I don’t see the point in making something up.

What Is CUE Broadcast?

You get 1,300+ streaming TV channels like ESPN, HBO, Showtime, STARZ, FX, TCM, Fox News, AMC, BET, Comedy Central, Discovery, Cartoon Network, Disney Channel, Nicklelodean, CBS Sports, FS1, FS2, MBL, NHL, Bally Sports, Music Choice, Podcasts, Local Channels (18 in Wisconsin). Spanish channels are also included.

There’s also the “Catchup” feature. It’s where some recently-aired shows are available to watch. That’s pretty cool.

They have 5,000 movies on demand and TV series on demand as well. There’s no contract, and no fees like local cable TV has.

One, big difference with CUE is that they are not funded by advertising dollars, but only by subscription fees. This means big advertisers can’t come in and demand that programming change. CUE is independent of that kind of influence. This is a big change in the industry.

It’s a Fairly New Service Still

At the time of writing this, they’re still new and things are changing. They do provide what they say they will, and I can’t think of any streaming service that doesn’t have issues. Even Netflix does as they tried to stream that boxing match. So, there are some glitches from time to time. Still, it’s fine. This isn’t life-threatening or anything.

CUE App Experience Review

  • They did switch how viewing works. I’ve seen other CUE Broadcast reviews about this.
  • They had an online app that worked in a web browser, and it was pretty good. The login system was a little weird.
  • Then they switched to a different version of the same thing. It works as a website and also as an app.

Channel Selection

  • OK, wow. I’m not kidding when I say there are lots of streaming channels. Almost too many, really – but if you have your favorites, you’ll be more than happy.
  • Tons of movie channels, weather, top-tier/premium channels, too.
  • What’s really nice is the sports channels – to catch all the Wisconsin Badgers games (Go Badgers!).

On Demand Movies and TV Series

This was kind of a surprise when I first found it. There are lots of movies to see, on demand. And they have TV series as well. There is a PPV section, but it doesn’t seem to work, so I’m not sure what that is.

What I Like

  • I can view TV right on my desktop. I have a dual-monitor setup and it’s nice to catch the weather or news or something as I work.
  • It’s also great on my phone and tablet.
  • I used to be one of those people who didn’t have “all the channels” and now I do.
  • No extra fees like cable is great.
  • No contracts. Leave when you want. How great is that?

What Could Be Better

Yeah, the app is glitchy sometimes. Again, what service isn’t?

As a company, CUE is doing well. There are some growing pains, but they’re dealing with them. They’re nice people – I’ve met them.

My Final Grade: A-

As far as CUE Broadcast reviews go, I can’t honestly give it a “A+” or “A” grade before this platform switch because I have high standards when it comes to this stuff. I do web design. I tell my team when something is 1 pixel off (they then look and see I’m right). So, hardly anything gets an A+ from me – even some of the own things I do – since there is the “good enough” principle (for another blog post). So an A- grade from me is very, very good. For the cost, what you get, and most importantly, the fact that it’s free for me, and free for anyone who can put in a little effort, it’s pretty amazing.

If you think you would want to replace cable with CUE, then go for it. There’s a 15-day trial for just $14.99, which is just $1/day. You can’t go wrong there. That’s the best way for anyone to see if they like it or not.

So, is CUE Broadcast Actually Legit?

  • Yes, it has 1,300+ real channels of streaming TV for a good price with no contracts.
  • You don’t get hit up with extra fees like cable TV.
  • You can stream on up to 5 devices, which is great for sports or when you have some time you need to kill commuting or whatever.
  • There are movies on demand to watch.
  • The channels are the same channels you’d get with cable.
  • They also have podcasts.

It’s actually good for what you get. I’d say give it a try.

  1. Tony, subscriber over 1 year. Got new version about 2 months ago. SNY sports channel not available anymore. No help from support. An upgrade window popped up. Mistake by choosing it thinking better version. Took me to re entering pass code and email window. Sorry I went that way since it locked me out of my membership. Upon further search a new joining contract window asked to join for $60+ and a year price $600+total must payment up front, no more monthly membership. No going back to my $59.99 membership. No way of getting support. Can you help. Is this the new norm? Yearly paid up front only. could you clear this up? Thanks

    2. And I’m hearing there have been some issues with the new rollout with certain devices, but it’s being addressed. Amazon Firesticks aren’t working well because there are so many variables (amount of apps installed, internet connection, etc.). One good idea is to get an ONN device – onn 4K Pro Streaming Device with the most memory, like 3 GM RAM is good. That is what I use – the $44 one. The one around $30 will work.
